Netflix $NFLX +0.44% secured exclusive rights to stream all 104 matches of the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra, the company said Tuesday. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The tournament marks the 100th anniversary of the World Cup. Spain, which won the 2026 edition, is one of three host countries for 2030, alongside Morocco and Portugal. Centenary celebration matches will also take place in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, the company said.
Netflix plans full live coverage, including pre-game, halftime, and post-game shows, a daily round-up show on match days, and programming in the lead-up to the tournament. One match per match day will be available for free in Spain. A package of matches — including every Spain match, both semifinals, and the final — will also be made available through a national free-to-air broadcaster, with a specific partner to be announced closer to the tournament.
“Few events unite people like the World Cup,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria said in a statement. "With Spain set to host in 2030, we're thrilled to bring every match to fans across Spain and Andorra on Netflix ."
FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström said in a statement: "We are pleased to build on our partnership with Netflix as we look ahead to the FIFA World Cup 2030. Our shared ambition is to bring fans closer to the game and enable as many people as possible to share in the excitement of the competition."
The deal expands Netflix 's existing relationship with FIFA. The company also holds rights to stream the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2027 and 2031 for viewers in the U.S. and Canada.
Netflix stock rose about 1% in premarket trading on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg. Media rights for other regions, including the U.S., have not yet been announced, according to Bloomberg.
The 2030 World Cup deal adds to Netflix 's live sports portfolio, which includes NFL games, MLB, WWE, and boxing and MMA events, the company said.
