Steelers linked to standout Commanders CB in new trade proposal

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been linked to more wide receiver trade targets than we can count, but CBS Sports just projected the team would trade for a standout cornerback from the Washington Commanders.

In an NFL trade deadline scenario, CBS Sports' JP Acosta linked the Pittsburgh Steelers to Commanders cornerback Amik Robertson, who's enjoying a career year in 2026 through eight weeks of football.

"Their most realistic option could be on the other side of the ball, however. The Steelers' secondary needs more speed and urgency, and no two words embody Amik Robertson more," Acosta wrote. "The Commanders' CB plays with zero fear and has inside/outside versatility, giving DC Patrick Graham options with the cornerback room. Robertson also has experience with Graham from his time in Las Vegas. He feels like an easy and reliable candidate for Pittsburgh to go after."

Robertson, who began his career with the Las Vegas Raiders (2020-2023), also played for the Detroit Lions (2024-2025) before joining the Commanders in 2026 free agency. Robertson has appeared in 93 games, including 42 starts, recording 259 combined tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 43 passes defended, and five interceptions.

Robertson has been off to a terrific start in 2026, starting in all seven games for the Commanders while also earning an outstanding 71.2 coverage grade, a 90.0 run defense grade, and a 73.7 overall grade from PFF, which ranks him as the 17th-best cornerback in the league.

CBS Sports wasn't the only one to predict the Steelers could be interested in cornerback help at the deadline, as NFL insider Jordan Schultz also reported the team's interest in bringing in some additional talent to their secondary.
