A supercomputer has predicted that Leicester City will still win the League One title despite sitting 17th and just one point above the relegation zone.
Russell Martin's reign at the King Power Stadium hasn't got off to the best start with City managing just two league wins so far. Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Peterborough United was the latest setback after Burton Albion and Oxford United left with three points.
Pressure has mounted on Martin since the loss, although Sporting Director James McCarron all but backed the 40-year-old to be successful at the club in his first interview since joining the club.
However, despite the afternoon to forget against Peterborough, City have been backed to still win League One. According to Bettrades supercomputer, BETSiE, the Foxes will finish top of the table with 81.4 points and have a whopping 39.6% probability of winning their second third flight title.
Before the weekend's defeat, the same supercomputer predicted that they would finish with 84.8 points, with a 54.6% chance of winning the league. Losing their eighth league game has seen both numbers drop.
The supercomputer simulated the league seasons 100,000 times. It takes into account all match results from last season (across all competitions), pre-season results and the current season as it progresses, projecting the season based on both pre-season expectations and xG earned for and against already.
It also integrates team financial data and player values from Transfermarkt. This additional layer of data provides a more nuanced understanding of team capabilities and potential performance variations.
