Wrexham boss Parkinson: Don't get too high or too low

The Reds bounced back from their disappointing 2-1 loss to West Brom with a 4-1 home win over bottom of the table Preston North End last Saturday, leaving The Racecourse outfit 14th in the table.

With 11 games gone, the division remains tight and Parkinson believes the congested nature of the table means perspective is crucial.

"Now you start getting a feel for the division (after a quarter of the season), but it is a topsy-turvy league. Very tight," he said ahead of tomorrow's clash against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

"Of course we'd love to be slightly higher up the table, but I'm confident that we've got our squad equipped to grow into the division like we did last year.

"I think the ups and downs in this division are a lot greater than they should be really, because one defeat can take you into the bottom half and one win can take you close to the playoffs, and everyone's talking about promotion.

"We've got to be careful of that."

Parkinson feels that scrutiny is heightened at The Racecourse because of the success that the club, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, has enjoyed during its rapid rise through the divisions, with the 58-year-old masterminding a record-breaking three successive promotions.

"I really do believe as a staff that if we do have a bad performance and it doesn't go our way at some point like the defeat against West Brom, then try not to get too low," he added.

"There's always an element with everything connected to Wrexham that we're a club which has been used to winning so much over the last five years.

"There seems to be a bigger kind of analysis of any defeat than you probably get elsewhere and that just stems from the success we've had and the culture we've created.

"We've got to be mindful of that and I think we did it brilliantly as a staff after the West Brom game. We got back in with a real eagerness and a determination to get back to winning ways and we did that against Preston.

"The Blackburn game offers us a different challenge and we'll be ready to rise to that at the weekend."
