Andoni Iraola has confirmed that Dominik Szoboszlai will miss Liverpool's game with Brighton at Anfield this weekend due to injury.
However, the Hungarian is doing some training alone at the moment and is not far away from making a return to action. He came back too early last weekend at Brentford and is therefore being carefully managed to ensure there is no repeat.
"Dom is going to be out this weekend, but I don't think he is far (away from a return)," Iraola said. "He hasn't trained with the group still and considering we started with him (at Brentford) and he had to go out, we will probably take one or two days more than we would last week.
"But he is in a good place. He is already training outside alone and he is going to train with the group, but he is not ready for this weekend."
Elsewhere, Victor Munoz is a doubt because of the knock that he sustained at Brentford. The Spanish forward missed the visit of Villarreal in the Champions League earlier this week.
Bradley Barcola was training alone on Thursday, but he is fine to be involved. His minutes are simply being managed after he arrived from PSG for a fee of around $166 million (£123 million) in the summer.
Brighton has been high-flying in the Premier League so far this season and beat Arsenal 3-0 recently.
Only two teams (Manchester City and the Gunners) have collected more points than Fabian Hurzeler's side at this early stage, though the Seagulls could only draw 0-0 with the Czech side Jablonec in the UEFA Conference League yesterday.
"They are doing incredibly well and deserve all the praise they are getting," Iraola said.
"Well coached, very good in every phase, one of the best teams with good quality. We have to be at our very best. I see my team in a good place.
Get Liverpool's new 2026/27 home kit
Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
"It's probably not too different a game than against Villarreal, because they control the phases and they are good technically, so we will see this. It is maybe not a 0-0 where nothing happens; both teams will try to control the game."
After facing Brighton this weekend, Liverpool hosts Chelsea and Arsenal in the coming week. It then travels to Fenerbahce and Crystal Palace before the November international break.
"I want to win games, home and away — wherever you can get the points," Iraola added. "The games have been high-level games, and we won them and had good performances against Atletico Madrid, Spurs and Villarreal."
