CFB 27 sim predicts winner, score of World's Largest Cocktail Party

The Georgia Bulldogs (6-1, 4-1 in SEC) enter another edition of the World's Largest Cocktail Party against the Florida Gators (5-2, 3-2 in SEC). It's an incredibly important game: only Kentucky has as many losses as Georgia in the SEC, and everything has shaped up for Georgia to get a second chance after their loss against Auburn. Still, Florida is eager to win against their third top-10-ranked team this season. Our sim of the game on CFB 27 predicts a close game.

Game Recap

The Gators had a balanced and steady approach in this game, and it showed in the first quarter. They were driving pretty far down field when Aaron Philo found Dallas Wilson for a five-yard touchdown to make it 7-0 with eight seconds left.

In the second, Georgia came rolling back. Gunner Stockton finished off a drive with a touchdown at 6:12 in the quarter to tie it, then he fired a bullet to Sacovie White-Helton from 17 yards out to make it 14-7 with 58 seconds left in the half.

The third quarter was once again all Florida. They would tie it with a dump-off from Philo to Clark that Clark took to the end zone to tie it at 14. Georgia tried to take the lead twice after that, but Peyton Woodring and the special teams suffered two blocked field goals. The Gators would take a fourth-quarter lead on the next drive, with Philo running it in himself to make it 21-14 Florida with about 11 minutes remaining in the game.

That was when Georgia finally woke up. On the very next drive, Georgia marched down the field, with Stockton ripping it to Lawson Luckie for a touchdown at 8:22 to tie the game. Florida came up empty on their next drive, with Georgia getting a fourth-down stop, and they finally took the lead with Dwight Phillips Jr. running in what was effectively the game-winning touchdown to reach the final score of 28-21. The Gators went four and out on their next drive to end the game.

Statistics

The Bulldogs were the far superior team in terms of yards, plays, and time of possession. They picked up 507 yards and 7.1 yards per play. However, the special teams were a mess. Peyton Woodring went 0-for-2 on field goals in the game, which kept Florida in the game for a lot longer.

Still, Georgia's offense delivered. Gunner Stockton went 29 for 41 with 311 yards and three total touchdowns while Nate Frazier exploded for 211 yards on 23 carries. Aaron Philo played decently, completing 21 of 33 for 226 yards and three total touchdowns, but the Georgia defense stopped Jaden Baugh from getting going. He was bottled up for 66 yards and no touchdowns on 13 carries.

Speaking of the defense, the pass rush was everywhere. The front seven earned an absurd 14 tackles for loss and six sacks, with Josh Horton and Raylen Wilson leading the way. They didn't get any turnovers, but they curtailed a great Florida offense.

Georgia would move up to 7-1 with this win, while Florida would sink to 5-3. This would be a win that would get a lot of Georgia fans bought into the vision again, and hopefully it will come to pass. So far the sim is 5-1, since it didn't predict the Auburn result correctly, so we'll see if this result holds.
