AFC north drama: Can Browns-Steelers winner take it all?

During a lively installment of the popular "Overreaction Monday" segment on “The Rich Eisen Show,” the crew tackled one of the NFL's most chaotic landscapes, the high-stakes battle for the AFC North.

The debate kicked off with a bold premise. The claim was that the winner of the Week 8 matchup between the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers will ultimately win the division. The conversation immediately turned to the rest of the division, noting that the Cincinnati Bengals were on a bye week and thus momentarily out of sight.

As Eisen joked, "On a buy, you don't exist. All right."

The talk quickly shifted to Pittsburgh's grit and quarter-by-quarter resilience. Despite taking heavy hits, the veteran leadership and toughness of quarterback Aaron Rodgers remain a defining factor.

Eisen noted, "I know he's getting his ass handed to him half the time. He pops back up and then he looks at Jeremiah Trotter Jr., goes, 'I played with your dad.' With a smile on his face. Like he's literally, being present to enjoy the moment."

The banter extended to sideline mechanics, highlighting the intense dynamic between players and coaches.

"When he's not laughing it up with Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and his teammates, he's telling [Mike] McCarthy to go f*** himself because the plays aren't coming in fast enough,” said Eisen with a chuckle.

Despite the chaos, Pittsburgh remains firmly in the mix, added Eisen. However, it is impossible to deny the improvement Cleveland has made this season.

Eisen went on to say Cleveland's home-field defense keeps them dangerous. "The Browns win at home. That's what you have to do. You have to hold serve at home and come up with some other wins on the road. They’ve done that so far. They’re 4-2. Highly impressive. Todd Monken is at third for Coach of the Year."

Ultimately, labeling Week 8 as the definitive divisional deciding moment was declared a classic "overreaction." With a competitive division featuring two teams above .500 and a major matchup between Baltimore and Cincinnati on the horizon, the AFC North crown remains wide open.
