Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn has reportedly won over his doubters in the promotion.
After his first reign ended in only nine days, Sami Zayn reclaimed the Undisputed WWE Championship. This was from CM Punk on the September 11, 2026, episode of SmackDown. Zayn has held the title for 52 days as of this writing and has successfully defended it against Kevin Owens, Je’Von Evans, and Trick Williams.
Dave Meltzer reported in September that there was internal pushback to put the Undisputed WWE Championship on Sami Zayn for a second time. However, the promotion went ahead with the change for storyline reasons, which Meltzer said would make sense once it fully plays out.
Now, according to WRKD Wrestling, “Sami Zayn has won over doubters backstage with his performance. Over the past few weeks that originally felt he wasn’t worthy of a second world title run.”
Zayn is now gearing up to face World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel for the Men’s Crown Jewel Championship. The event will take place at The Venue (AMD Venue) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, November 7, 2026. Despite reports that he didn’t want to make the trip, he will face his former Tribal Chief in a massive Champion vs. Champion match at the event.
