Mikel Arteta assessed a 2-0 win for Arsenal against Everton.

The Gunners grabbed three points at the Emirates Stadium thanks to two goals from their central defenders. Ezri Konsa crashed the ball goal bound from close range as he registered his first strike for his new side, then Gabriel Magalhães steered a Ben White delivery beyond Jordan Pickford.

· ‘We’re very pleased with 90% of the performances and results’

Arsenal have now picked up 21 points from their first eight Premier League fixtures, sitting behind Manchester City on goal difference after their 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday.

The reigning champions continue to rise to challenges, impressing the manager with their consistency.

“We’re very happy with the victory, the performance and the week, because we were given a terrible schedule. Playing Sunday afternoon, then Wednesday night in Munich, coming here really late on Thursday and then having to play again in the Premier League against a really tough opponent on Saturday at 3pm.

“We have overcome some injuries, and I’m proud of the mentality of the team in the conditions.

“We have no reason not to [make changes] because we have an unbelievable group of players with the right mentality who are all ready to play their part when they’re ready. They did that today.

“We just have to focus on what we can do, and we’re very pleased with 90% of the performances and results - apart from the Brighton game, I would say.

“I think today my fear was the longer they stay in the result, score first, and it drives into 65, 70 minutes, then we have a problem. So, I wanted us to be very aggressive from the beginning, go for it and try to impose ourselves early in the match.”
