WWE via Getty ImagesWWE Crown Jewel 2026 represented a potential turning point for the stagnant tag team division on Monday Night Raw.
The duo of The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Austin Theory won the World Tag Team Championship back in July when they defeated The Street Profits. Yet, they successfully defended those titles exactly zero times on television in the 120-plus days following their tag title win.
Instead of revitalizing WWE Raw’s tag team division, Breakker appeared to be more focused on winning the Money in the Bank briefcase and recementing himself as a singles star. So too did Je’Von Evans and Penta, the eventual Money in the Bank winner, both of which found themselves at odds with The Vision week in and week out.
That all led to WWE Crown Jewel, where Breakker and Theory looked to avoid dropping the titles without a single successful title defense.
And so ends one of the most forgettable tag team title reigns in WWE history.
At WWE Crown Jewel 2026, the makeshift duo of Evans and Penta ended the title reign of The Vision before it ever even got going . In front of a hot crowd in Riyadh, Evans pinned Theory to capture the World Tag Team Championship, marking Evans’ first-ever title win on the main roster.
Here are the key moments and highlights from Penta and Evans’ tag team title victory at Crown Jewel:
The Vision, much like its Raw counterpart The Judgment Day, continues to serve virtually no purpose on Raw.
Without Paul Heyman and Seth Rollins, with Bronson Reed’s big comeback falling short against Oba Femi and Breakker’s singles push largely disappearing, The Vision is on its last legs. Losing the tag titles at Crown Jewel wasn’t the original plan. That was actually a six-man tag team match also involving Reed and Femi, which is now expected to take place down the road. That makes sense after Femi’s triumphant Crown Jewel return.
Even if The Vision wins that match, the faction is largely spinning its wheels, as it has been for much of 2026. The once-top stable has lost any and all of its potential appeal as a top faction and can no longer be taken seriously as a main event act. Penta and Evans, on the other hand, are trending in the right direction.
Evans is one of WWE’s most popular stars, recently wrestled Sami Zayn for the WWE Championship and is now holding gold. Penta, of course, is holding both the World Tag Team Championship and the Money in the Bank briefcase, which makes him just a cash-in away from becoming world champion.
That figures to happen in 2027, given the likelihood that Raw’s world title picture will revolve around Femi and Roman Reigns well into early next year. Thus, Penta’s tag title win gives him something to do in the months ahead because he would otherwise be spinning his wheels without much direction.
Pairing Evans, Penta and Femi together temporarily should keep all three stars hot and could potentially revitalize the tag team division after Crown Jewel. Though the latter part remains unlikely, at least Penta and Evans will remain in a prominent spot feuding with The Vision to close out 2026.
