Former Australian Test winger Josh Addo-Carr could be set for a major suspension from the NRL after failing a drug test.
Addo-Carr has been alleged to have tested positive for cocaine at a random roadside test back in September in Newton, Sydney.
A positive test would mark the second time that the winger has been caught with drugs in his system, having also failed in September 2024.
The 31-year-old is currently in limbo as he awaits the “formal notification of his B-test sample,” per Australian news outlet ZeroTackle.
No penalty has yet been handed out by either his club, the Parramatta Eels, or the NRL itself, as they too await the full results.
Should the ‘B-test’ come back positive, Addo-Carr will be forced to miss three months of action, 12 matches, but that would only come into effect if he still has a contract for next season.
As it stands, he is still on Parramatta’s books for 2027, but as we have seen in previous off-field disciplinary cases, the club could release him from his contract early.
The 10-time Australian international is currently in a rehab facility, where he has been since learning the results of a positive drug test.
