Jaqueline Amorim won’t be entering the Octagon again in 2027.

A new women’s strawweight queen was crowned in the UFC last year, when Mackenzie Dern defeated Virna Jandiroba to succeed Zhang Weili on the throne.

The Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist is on the hunt for her second challenger after beating Gillian Robertson at UFC 330 this past August.

Among the names inside the top 15 coming off a victory is Brazil’s Amorim, but her hopes to climb the ladder at 115 pounds have been dented by a drug test failure.

Jaqueline Amorim accepts six-month UFC suspension after testing positive for a banned substance

While the UFC strawweight division is not what it once was, there are still a number of promising names who have arrived in recent years.

Amorim is one of those who has been touted as a potential title contender down the line. But one year on from her opening setback inside the Octagon, the Brazilian has experienced another away from the cage.

A statement on UFC.com recently revealed that Amorim was positive for the prohibited substance ostarine in out-of-competition tests on July 29 and August 17.

The news was announced by CSAD (Combat Sports Anti-Doping), who runs the UFC anti-doping program.

Following an investigation, it was determined that a contaminated supplement was the likely cause of the failed tests.

“After reviewing the evidence, CSAD determined that the findings were consistent with exposure to low-level ostarine contamination rather than intentional use,” the statement explained.

As a result, Amorim has been handed a six-month suspension dating back to the second sample, meaning she will be eligible to compete again on February 17, 2027.

Amorim is currently the No. 13-ranked contender in the UFC women’s strawweight division.

Since a debut defeat in 2023, the former LFA champion has won five out of her six fights, including over Loma Lookboonmee via first-round armbar in her most recent bout.
