Joao Pedro missed Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend and is now set for a spell on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

It is a massive blow for Xabi Alonso and the Blues, with Pedro being the team’s top scorer this season. In six Premier League games, he has scored five goals.

Chelsea fans will now be anxiously asking many questions about the striker’s situation. Here are the answers to five of them.

How long will Joao Pedro be out for?

Alonso gave an update of Pedro’s injury in a pre-match press conference on Tuesday. According to the Chelsea manager, the striker will be out for a “few weeks”.

Which games will Joao Pedro miss?

Alonso stated that Pedro would definitely be out for the “next few games”. It means you can rule out Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie against Liverpool and Saturday’s Premier League clash versus Manchester United.

After that, Chelsea face Sunderland before the international break, meaning supporters may not see Pedro until after then.

Who could replace Joao Pedro?

Morgan Rogers replaced Pedro during the loss to Tottenham, but that experiment did not really work. Going forward, it is more likely that we see Danny Welbeck leading the line for Chelsea in Pedro’s absence.

Emmanuel Emegha has returned from injury, so the Dutchman is also an option for the Blues.

What is Chelsea’s Premier League win rate without Joao Pedro this season?

In the Premier League this season, Pedro has missed two games in total because of injury and Chelsea lost both of them. It is a small sample, but for now, Chelsea have a 0% win rate without the Brazil international.

What was Chelsea’s Premier League win rate without Joao Pedro last season?

In the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, Pedro only missed three games. However, Chelsea lost two of those matches and only won one.

It means they had a 33.3% win rate without him. In the matches the former Brighton & Hove Albion man featured in, Chelsea’s win rate creeps up to 37.1%.
