Blackburn Rovers are in town - with a very familiar figure in the away dugout.

Albion return to The Hawthorns following the midweek success at Wrexham - with former boss Tony Mowbray looking to spoil the mood.

Two-time ex-manager Mowbray brings his Blackburn Rovers side to the Black Country looking to inflict defeat on the club he was sacked from 18 months ago.

Saturday begins with the Baggies in seventh and Blackburn in 10th, with just two points separating the sides.

Key Events

  • Albion back at home with fellow top-half side Blackburn the visitors
  • Two-time former boss Tony Mowbray returns after sacking 18 months ago
  • James Morrison makes one change with JJ Morgan recalled
  • Andri Gudjohnsen fires early double with the Baggies two down
  • Barney Stewart's first Albion goal pulls one back

Comes to nothing, frustratingly. Cleared and now a Rovers man down holding his head.

Albion work it well on the right as Price and Pereira combine again and latter is held back by Afolayan. The winger is cautioned. Free-kick stood over by Price.

This is a cracking watch and Albion playing some good football despite the deficit.

Collyer and Nzingoula combine well for fellow midfielder Molumby - having a lively day - to charge on to but a retreating defender gets there,

Nzingoula wins a free-kick moments later with some sharp play, but on this right side Pereira and Price unable to combine as former’s pass rolls out.

Campbell did end up taking the ball. Not sure if it was the follow-through, or he just sort of landed on it. Home fans unhappy after that but the Rovers man clearly hurt enough to be withdrawn. Fevrier coming on.

Break in play here while Morishita hobbles off after that Campbell challenge. He felt that. Sub happening.

George Campbell booked. Slightly high on far side. Home fans fuming.

Albion on the front foot again looking for an equaliser. With Molumby’s huge double chance it could be 3-2 Baggies.

Hardly time to catch your breath here!

Scot has his first Baggies goal and it is very well timed. Visitors give it away, Morgan can’t take it but it drops to Nzingoula, who has a good dribble but can’t get a shot away, deflection drops to Stewart who converts well. Composed finished.

Good possession Albion and big chance. Worked well from Morgan across to Price on the right, wonderful first-time volleyed cross and Molumby again, six yards out this time under a bit more pressure. can’t get his header right. Irishman struggling.

Corner from the right, down the Brummie Road end, is an inswinger and it’s not dealt with. Molumby has had a bad 15 minutes here and he rather heads down into the ground, the ball bounces around and Gudjohnsen hammers high into the roof of the net.

Gudjohnsen bags his second from a corner! Baggies in trouble.

Albion maintain possession after Nzingoula was clattered down in front of us. Home fans fuming. Blackburn on the break now and Campbell has to turn behind a low cross from the right.

Oh Jayson Molumby just has to score!

How has he missed that? Everybody in The Hawthorns is asking as much as Molumby sends wide from 10 yards out, totally unmarked. Morgan’s cross from the left not properly cleared, falls to Molumby in acres of space, rather skews it wide of the top right.

Good strike but a poor goal to give away for the Baggies.

Brayann Pereira at fault. The right-back lost it in his own defensive third, rather had his pocket picked, and striker Andri Gudjohnsen - recalled to the side by Mowbray - did the rest.

Wonderful strike of power and bend high into the right corner beyond even Max O’Leary.

Blackburn lead 1-0 through Gudjohnsen.

Good strike from the left-back, swerving and dipping, and forces away keeper Balazs Toth to parry into no-man’s land, but the visitors defend it.

Came from good work by Morgan and Nzingoula on that left side.

Rovers go close. Free-kick swung in from 30 yards out, to the left, and striker Gudjohnsen gets in front of his marker to head a decent glanced header just wide across goal. Let off. Got between Molumby and Collyer.
