Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes (24) is ruled out of Tuesday’s Champions League clash against FC Barcelona.
Having picked up an injury during PSG’s 3-1 away win against RC Strasbourg-Alsace on Saturday, the Portuguese player has sustained a left thigh injury, the Parisian club have confirmed. Whilst he will miss the match against the Blaugranas, Mendes will also be sidelined “for the next few weeks”, according to the statement.
It’s a major blow for Luis Enrique and Les Rouge et Bleu, who are in the midst of a busy run of fixtures; they are set to face Olympique Lyonnais next Sunday, before taking on Le Havre, Villarreal and ESTAC Troyes ahead of the November international break. There has been no mention as yet of whether he will be called up to the Portuguese national team for the upcoming Nations League matches against Denmark and Wales.
A key member of the PSG squad, Mendes has made seven appearances (five as a starter) in all competitions since the start of the season.
