Rangers academy prospect Kyle Glasgow is generating serious buzz across Scottish football as the on-loan teenager continues to excel during his senior spell with Alloa Athletic.
The talented young forward put in another standout display on Saturday (17 October), capping off an emphatic 3-0 away victory for Alloa Athletic against East Fife in League One with a moment of individual brilliance.
With 85 minutes on the clock, Glasgow picked up the ball in his own half, drove towards the East Fife goal, and played a slick one-two exchange with Owen Foster before unleashing a first-time curled effort into the bottom-left corner, completing a dominant performance for Andy Graham’s side.
The performance certainly did not go unnoticed, with former Hibernian and Falkirk forward turned pundit Tam McManus taking to social media to heap praise on the 16-year-old Ibrox prospect after attending the match in person.
What do you make of the ratings?
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday (18 October) night, McManus expressed his delight at watching Glasgow live, singling out not just his natural technical quality, but his remarkable work rate and selfless application without the ball.
Resharing a video of the Rangers gem’s goal, McManus wrote: “Was at this game on Saturday and this kid has everything to make it to the top. Wonderful natural ability, but also worked his [expletive] off for the team out of possession. I really enjoyed watching him; was a standout. He’s getting a fabulous education out on loan at Alloa under big Andy Graham and his staff, who encouraged their team to play the whole game.”
McManus’ glowing appraisal highlights the exact rapid trajectory the Rangers coaching staff were hoping to see when sending Glasgow out on loan. Playing regular men’s football in League One under the guidance of Alloa boss Graham is providing the versatile teenager with a platform to build physical resilience and tactical discipline.
Crucially, Glasgow’s willingness to embrace the unglamorous physical duties of senior football, pressing relentless defenders, making recovery runs, and tracking back, is earning him immense respect beyond his raw goalscoring stats. While many young attackers rely purely on technical flair, the Rangers starlet’s willingness to work his socks off out of possession has drawn particular approval from experienced observers.
That blend of graft and craft is precisely what Derek McInnes demands from his wide forwards and attackers at Ibrox. Glasgow has already trained with the Rangers first team this season, and it is only a matter of time before he makes his senior bow for the Light Blues.
