Last night Newcastle United discovered that they will travel to Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, IF they can win at Everton tonight.
The game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium has seen Newcastle United fans handed 7,732 tickets for this Thursday night match.
Competition rules say the away team should get at least 10% of capacity but for some reason United fans were handed around 15% of the stadium, which didn’t go down well with a lot of Everton fans.
There were great scenes on Tuesday night when Arsenal lost at Highbury (how funny is that!) to Fleetwood Town on penalties. The huge extra bonus was seeing our old mate Bruno Guimaraes failing with the decisive penalty!
The only downside was that there were not more Arsenal fans to see it in person!
I have just had a look at what the away allocation was at Fleetwood Town for the Gunners.
This was the ticket info on the official Arsenal site:
‘Highbury Stadium
We have received an additional allocation of 100 tickets for this fixture which have been added to sales phase 4.
We have received an allocation of 841 tickets for this fixture, which will be located in the Percy Ronson Stand and the Parkside Stand.
All tickets for this game will be hard copies and will be posted out to the lead client member.
Please note that the Percy Ronson Stand is a standing terrace. Supporters who prefer to remain seated during the match should look to purchase tickets in the Parkside Stand.’
If NUFC get past Everton, it appears that Newcastle United fans will get no more than 841 tickets, split between safe standing and seats. Arsenal fans were charged £30 and £32 respectively.
When Fleetwood beat Arsenal, the official attendance was 5,002, so actually 841 tickets is around 17% of capacity.
It will be the hottest ticket in (Fleetwood) Town if United win tonight, the 7,732 Newcastle fans heading to the Hill Dickinson will be 50% more than the entire attendance in the quarter-final at Fleetwood Town’s Highbury Stadium when they host that last eight match against either The Toffees or The Magpies.
