In this quiz, you have to list the batters and bowlers involved in the most expensive overs in men’s Tests.
Back in 1953/54 at Ellis Park, Johannesburg, Bert Sutcliffe hit the first four balls from the usually parsimonious Hugh Tayfield for six, six, dot, six before running a single. No.11 Bob Blair then hit the sixth ball for six. For the first time in the history of Test cricket, a bowler conceded 25 runs. It was an eight-ball over, but the 25-mark had been breached by the first six balls (Blair played out the last two anyway).
At Port of Spain in 1980/81, Andy Roberts took four, six, two, six, six off the first five balls before running a leg-bye. The 25-mark was equalled (though the leg-bye did not count against Botham). It was not until the 21st century that a bowler finally conceded 26 in an over in Test match over.
In this quiz, you have to name the bowlers and batters involved in every over in men’s Test cricket that went for at least 26 runs. We have provided you with all their teams, the year, the venue, and the details of the over.
