Man City player ratings vs Ipswich with three 8/10s as Erling Haaland good but Marc Guehi struggles

Manchester City player ratings from the Manchester Evening News as Erling Haaland scored twice

Manchester City moved six points clear at the top of the Premier League table after a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town. Erling Haaland scored twice in a game that City controlled but were still left to wait for victory.

Phil Foden slotted in on his return to the side following an almighty wait after his red card against United, but City were pegged back almost immediately after some careless work from Marc Guehi. Haaland soon had the inflatable bananas in the stands waving again though as he headed home Mateo Kovacic's cross.

Haaland's second looked to have made the game safe in the second half, but another error from Guehi gave Ipswich a penalty late on and made for a nervy finish. Twelve minutes of time added on did not help nerves inside the Etihad, but the Blues held on for another important win.

Here are the player ratings from the Manchester Evening News.

Donnarumma: Didn't have much to do, could have been stronger from set-pieces. 6

Nunes: Terrific all afternoon, not letting anything past him and bringing the ball forward confidently before picking up a knock. 8

Guehi: Really poor for the Ipswich goal, his worst mistake since Everton last season, and some careless errors towards the end as well that included conceding a penalty. 4

Dias: Two testing long-range efforts to accompany a solid display at the back where he kept his calm. 7

O'Reilly: Nothing particularly wrong, but he found it harder than usual to connect with Doku and he should have done better from a corner. 6

Bouaddi: Not quite as eye-catching as his PSG cameo but he did plenty of mopping up and his long legs make it difficult for him to be dispossessed. 7

Kovacic: Did well to carry the ball in midfield and was involved in both goals before seeming to pick up an injury early in the second half. 7

Foden: Took his goal nicely and some good work in the middle in his first game back since United last month. 7

Ndiaye: Does so much so well and his assist for Haaland's second was deserved for the threat he had carried all afternoon. 8

Doku: An assist for the first goal and while he was in and out of the game he was still too much of a handful for his full-back. 7

Haaland: Barely in the game for the first half hour but ended up with two goals. Haaland gonna Haaland. 8
