Harry Wilson told Daniel Farke 'has a plan' for his Leeds United revival after disappointing start

Harry Wilson has not started a Premier League game since the opening day of the season

Wales legend Dean Saunders believes Daniel Farke has "got a plan" for Harry Wilson moving forward, with the attacker being been left out of recent Leeds United line-ups.

Wilson has not started a Premier League game since the opening day win over Nottingham Forest. The summer signing did begin the 6-3 League Cup defeat to Chelsea, assisting Tarik Muharemovic's opener before giving the ball away for the home side's third goal.

In his substitute appearances, aside from a decent 45-minute showing in a comeback 1-1 draw with Brentford, Wilson has otherwise failed to impress. Often unable to make an impact in his limited time, the 29-year-old has also had loose moments of dispossession.

"Harry Wilson is a really talented player, and he definitely showed what he is capable of at Fulham last season," Saunders insisted when speaking to Betpack. "Leeds haven't seen the best of him yet, but I'm sure that will come soon.

"I'm sure Harry is getting slightly frustrated at his lack of game time, but Leeds are in great form at the moment, what they are doing is really causing teams problems. Although after saying that, I imagine Daniel Farke has a plan for Harry.

"He is extremely creative going forward. In games against the top sides in the league, I can see why Farke isn't starting him. Harry isn't the quickest, but he has a brilliant football brain that allows him to unlock teams, creating chances and also scoring plenty of goals."

Farke himself has admitted Wilson - who missed Wales duty with a quad injury sustained ahead of the goalless draw with Crystal Palace - is not quite there yet with his tactical play, amid a slightly different role of wide No.10 than the right wing position he played at Fulham.

Saunders is adamant that, in time, this will click into gear and Wilson will show the credentials he displayed at Craven Cottage last season, having recorded a career best 10 Premier League goals and seven assists.

"I think Farke will use him much more often when they play teams that they expect to sit deeper against them, where creativity is more important than work rate," Saunders added.

"Harry will be frustrated about not playing, but I’m sure the manager is keeping him in the loop about his plans for him. He will want to play football, but I think if he bides his time, he will prove his value to Leeds in no time."
