Instant reactions to Alabama's ugly road loss vs. Tennessee

On Saturday afternoon, the Alabama Crimson Tide traveled for the latest chapter of the Third Saturday in October at Neyland Stadium, a venue that has given the program fits in recent trips.

One of the SEC's most storied rivalries, it was eventually more of the same for Alabama on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson Tide were plagued by a slow start offensively, and went on to struggle mightily in a number of different areas.

As a result, Alabama suffered yet another road loss to Tennessee in a game where they never led, 26-10.

A game that simply did not feature a lot of positives for the Crimson Tide, let's take a look at some instant reactions to Alabama's latest loss in Neyland Stadium.

Alabama has ugly offensive showing

To keep it simple, this was likely one of the worst offensive showings we have seen from Alabama in recent memory. The Crimson Tide could not get anything going at any point during the game, finishing with only 201 yards of total offense. Alabama also committed four turnovers, and struggled mightily on third down by going 2-of-13, as well as 1-of-3 on fourth down. The Crimson Tide also had only seven first downs the entire game.

Alabama's rough start in first half

While the offense struggled the entire game, Alabama really put themselves in a hole early with a rough showing in the first half. At halftime, Alabama trailed 12-10 following an offensive half that included only 93 total yards, three turnovers, and a combined 0-of-8 on third-and-fourth downs.

Alabama loses the line of scrimmage

A major storyline coming in, Alabama lost the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball Saturday afternoon. The Crimson Tide offensive line gave up five sacks to only one for Alabama's defense, while the Volunteers also out-rushed Alabama in all, 150-54, headlined by a lengthy drive in the fourth quarter that essentially iced the game for Tennessee.

Alabama loses back-to-back games

As a result of Saturday's road loss at Tennessee, Alabama has now dropped back-to-back games for the first time since 2013. This is also Alabama's third consecutive loss to Tennessee in Neyland Stadium after defeats in both 2022 and 2024.
