Tottenham wonderkid finally makes debut, Dragusin problems but Jamie Donley delight

It's time to get the latest news on Tottenham's big contingent of loan players as they continue their new chapters in their careers

Tottenham have a huge group of players spread out on loan across the game and there were some big moments, both good and bad, for them this week.

Spurs have sent out 17 players to clubs across the Premier League, Football League as well as to sides in Italy, Germany, Portugal and Belgium. The range of stars and starlets is wide, some young and others more experienced, while a few have obligations for their new clubs to sign them if they meet certain requirements. Others have options to make their transfers permanent and the rest just want to impress Roberto De Zerbi or their new clubs.

football.london are keeping a close eye on all of the north London outfit's players out on loan across this long season, including those who have obligations to leave as they are still on Spurs' books until they officially depart the club.

Here's what happened to all 17 of Tottenham's loan players this week:

Souza (Porto)

Souza finally made his official debut for Porto and his first Champions League outing as the left-back, who turned 20 in the summer, was given 21 minutes from the bench on Tuesday night.

The Brazilian has been awaiting that moment, left on the bench unused twice in the competition and four more times in the Portuguese, while playing a friendly during the international break, but he finally got the official nod against PSV 12 minutes after Guus Til had scored what would end up being the winning goal for the visiting Dutch side.

For almost 20 minutes, Souza shared the pitch with a former Spurs man, also occasionally a left-back, in Ivan Perisic, who has been a goal machine for PSV over recent seasons despite approaching his 38th birthday in the new year.

In his 21 minutes on the pitch, Souza had 15 touches of the ball, completed eight successful passes out of his nine as well as one successful dribble, created one chance and made one headed clearance as well as one ball recovery.

The Brazilian is at Porto on a free loan for the season, without an option to buy, with his new club taking on his salary and now Souza will be hoping to make his Liga Portugal debut on Saturday as his side travel to Gil Vicente.

Kevin Danso (Sunderland)

Kevin Danso had a nightmare on Sunday as his 17th minute red card helped condemn Sunderland to defeat at Bournemouth and handed the hosts their first win of the Premier League season.

The 28-year-old has started five matches in a row for the Black Cats but at the Vitality Stadium it all went wrong for him. He had already been beaten by Evanilison before the Brazilian crossed for Marcus Tavernier to head home in the fifth minute.

Then 12 minutes later, Evanilson again got in front of the Austria international and the centre-back clumsily fell and pulled on the Cherries forward, bringing him down on the edge of the Sunderland area and referee Craig Pawson was left with no option but to brandish the red card.

It was similar to Danso's red card in the summer friendly against Chelsea when he brought down Joao Pedro early in the second half in Sydney.

That night Spurs' 10 men managed to win but this time Evanilison went on to apply the second goal to the game and compound the Tottenham centre-back's misery.

Danso, who is on a £2.5million loan with an obligation for the Black Cats to buy him for £22.5million if they stay up in the Premier League, was able to at least start in midweek for Sunderland's Europa League 1-1 draw at Lech Poznan.

Pape Matar Sarr and Guglielmo Vicario (Juventus)

Pape Matar Sarr has become a firm favourite at Juventus already and made it back-to-back Serie A starts for the Old Lady on Sunday.

However, it was a bad day at the office in terms of the result for the Senegal international and Guglielmo Vicario as they fell to a heavy 3-0 home defeat to Lazio in Turin.

Goal.com gave Vicario a four in their player ratings with the review: "Left entirely isolated by his central defenders for all three goals. While he didn't make a glaring error, he finished the game with zero saves recorded against three shots on target. A goalkeeper of his calibre is expected to produce at least one reflex stop to keep his side in the contest."

Sarr got a five with the write-up: "Showed flashes of physicality and covered a lot of ground, but he was often chasing shadows as Lazio moved the ball quickly through Frattesi. He was substituted late on after the game had already been lost."

Sarr joined the Old Lady in a £2.4million loan deal with certain conditions during this coming season set to trigger an obligation to buy him for £23.5million while Vicario agreed terms on a free loan for the Serie A side, containing an option to buy the 29-year-old for a total of £8.5million, which includes £1.7million in add-ons.

Vicario started and Sarr was left on the bench in the Europa League on Thursday night as Juventus drew 2-2 at home to Rennes.

Radu Dragusin (Fiorentina)

Radu Dragusin and Genoa's tough start to the season continued as they fell to a 3-1 defeat at home to Cesc Fabregas' Como.

Fiorentina sit in 18th place in the early Serie A table with just one victory to their name and five defeats with 17 goals conceded, more than any other team in the Italian top flight.

The Romanian centre-back joined the Italian club this summer in a loan deal with a £21.4million obligation to buy which will be triggered by various conditions as this campaign goes on and the 24-year-old has played every minute of the seven Serie A matches so far for the Florence-based outfit with another two appearances in the cup.

Mikey Moore (Koln)

Mikey Moore had to settle for a rare substitute appearance for his loan club Cologne after a string of starts.

The 19-year-old England U20 skipper came off the bench in the 68th minute on Friday night as part of a triple substiution away at Eintracht Frankfurt but the hosts won the Bundesliga game with a 77th minute strike from Younes Ebnoutalib.

Kota Takai (Sint-Truidense VV)

Kota Takai made it back-to-back starts for Belgian club STVV with the 22-year-old playing the full 90 minutes again and finally tasting victory.

The centre-back was in the defence for the entire game as Sint-Truidense eased through their Belgian Cup tie 4-1 against fellow Jupiler Pro League side Lommel.

It was a better experience for the Japan international after conceding four goals in the 4-3 defeat at Mechelen on his debut the previous week, with STVV finding themselves 3-0 down within 39 minutes.

The Japan international centre-back has joined a club in the Jupiler League that has Japanese owners and a history of working with players from that country and he will be looking to get his career back on track after an injury-hit first year at Spurs and an unsuccessful loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Yang Min-hyeok (Westerlo)

Yang Min-hyeok followed up his wonder goal for Westerlo last week with his first start for the Belgian club in their 2-0 cup match at home against Patro Eisden.

The 20-year-old has now made four appearances for his new side around his time winning the Asian Games with South Korea, but his time on the pitch on Friday only lasted until half-time and the winger did not reappear for the second half.

Mason Melia (Lincoln City)

Mason Melia remains out with a thigh injury that will be keep him from playing for both Lincoln and the Republic of Ireland until later this month.

The 19-year-old striker, who made his Republic of Ireland senior debut this summer, had come off the bench in three of Lincoln's previous six matches and started one.

Jamie Donley (Luton Town)

Jamie Donley grabbed another assist for Luton Town in their 2-1 victory against Barnsley in League One on Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old started two games in four days and showed his fitness to play the full 90 minutes after his 75 minutes on a disappointing day for both him and the Hatters at MK Dons on Saturday.

In midweek though it was his pinpoint free-kick just one minute and 17 seconds into the game at Kenilworth Road that was headed home by Mads Andersen.

Donley, on a straight loan with no option for the Hatters to buy him, has made eight appearances for his loan side and has recorded two goals and three assists.

George Abbott (Mansfield Town)

George Abbott keeps clocking up the minutes for Mansfield Town after returning from his long-term injury.

The 21-year-old midfielder once again played the first half for Nigel Clough's men as he builds up his match fitness and helped them to a 3-0 win on Tuesday night at AFC Wimbledon.

He had done exactly the same on Thursday night last week for the 1-1 draw at home against Oxford United and he should soon be lasting longer in games as Clough manages him carefully after his lengthy absence.

Oliver Irow (Plymouth Argyle)

Oliver Irow got more minutes under his belt in a busy few days for Plymouth Argyle in League One.

On Saturday, the 20-year-old winger came off the bench for 27 minutes of the 2-0 home defeat to Hudderfield and then he started but was taken off at half-time in the 3-0 defeat at Stevenage on Tuesday night.

Irow has four goals from his opening 12 matches for Argyle.

Yusuf Akhamrich (Leyton Orient)

Yusuf Akhamrich played his part as Leyton Orient rediscovered their scoring touch but he was left with mixed emotions from their games in recent days.

On Saturday he played 64 minutes as the O's enjoyed a 2-0 home triumph against Blackpool but the 20-year-old right winger was on the losing side on Tuesday as he played 72 minutes on the flank in the 1-0 defeat at Reading.

Akhamrish has three goals and three assists from his 11 league matches this season.

Damola Ajayi (Barnet)

Damola Ajayi got another couple of substitute appearances to his name for League Two side Barnet.

Also a 20-year-old right winger, Ajayi came off the bench for the final 13 minutes of normal time on Saturday and helped Barnet to a 2-1 win at Tranmere Rovers.

Then on Tuesday night, he got 23 minutes as Barnet fell to a disappointing 3-1 loss at home to Swindon Town.

Ajayi spent last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers and then Bromley, having made his Tottenham bow the previous campaign with a spectacular debut goal against Elfsborg on the club's route to winning the Europa League.

Reiss Russell-Denny (Bristol Rovers)

Reiss Russell-Denny had a similar week in terms of substitute minutes but suffered back-to-back defeats with Bristol Rovers in League Two.

On Saturday, the 20-year-old midfielder played 22 minutes of the 1-0 defeat at Shrewsbury and then came off the bench with 21 minutes to go on Tuesday evening during the 2-1 defeat to high-flying Salford.

Russell-Dennet returned from Tottenham's tour Down Under to make his first steps in senior competitive football with Rovers.

Luca Gunter (Boreham Wood)

Tottenham's 21-year-old goalkeeper Luca Gunter has missed out on the squad for recent matches at National League high-flyers Boreham Wood.

Gunter is yet to experience defeat this season but has missed out in recent weeks after Chelsea loanee Ted Curd, back at the club after a loan last season, reclaimed his spot and Gunter cannot be on the bench due to loan regulations.

The Spurs academy stopper is getting his second loan experience under his belt after his time at Wealdstone last season.

Dylan Thompson (Enfield Town)

Spurs' 18-year-old keeper Dylan Thompson was not involved for Isthmian League Premier Division side Enfield Town at the weekend for a good reason.

The teenager has had plenty of experience on his first loan but got to enjoy life on the road with De Zerbi's Tottenham squad as he travelled with them for the warm-weather training camp in Marbella.
