Rotherham United make the trek down to Wiltshire to take on Swindon Town in their next League game.
Last Time Out
The Millers were last at the County Ground for the final game of the 2013/14 season which saw Wes Thomas score in the opening minute to give the visitors the lead. Thomas scored again on the twenty-third minute with the Robins getting a consolation from the penalty spot when a certain Michael Smith scored.
Other Games At The County Ground
Before that it was September 2011 that the pair met on Swindon soil in a game that had five goals and two red cards. The game was only ten minutes old when Conrad Logan, in goal, made a good save from Mehdi Kerrouche with the Millers ‘keeper being in the spotlight a few minutes later when a flaying elbow caught him in the nose leaving him dazed and bleeding and having to have extensive treatment for what turned out to be a broken nose. On twenty-one minutes the Millers went ahead with a first goal for Millers new boy Alex Revell but five minutes from half-time the Robins were level when a shot from Matt Richie rebounded off Tom Newey into the back of the net. With the home side coming out for the second half with all guns blazing (including a lot of falling over) it was a bit of a surprise when the Millers got a free-kick and up popped that debutant again, Revell, to head another goal to regain the visitors lead and it might have been three if a shout for a penalty had gone the Millers way. Three minutes later the Millers found themselves down to ten men after Danny Schofield fouled Kerrouche and referee Carl Boyeson gave him a second yellow card. With Rotherham a bit at sixes and sevens Swindon got an equaliser a minute later from Alan Connell and ten minutes from time he put them in front. With five minutes to go Mr Boyeson evened it up and gave Alberto Comazzi a second yellow which was followed by ‘handbags’ between the two benches.
In February 2006 we saw four goals in eleven minutes at the County Ground. Jamie Cureton put the home side ahead twenty minutes into the game with Martin Butler equalising two minutes later. Sean O’Hanlon put the Robins in front again on the twenty-fifth minute but six minutes later Shaun Barker got another Millers equaliser. Rotherham’s winner came four minutes into the second half when Butler scored his second and the Millers third of the day.
December 2000 saw the hosts go in front on five minutes from Ian Woan with Guy Branston equalising on the quarter of the hour mark before a second half Danny Invincible goal gave Swindon the two-one win.
