Milan Primavera 2-1 Catanzaro: Dotta’s late winner secured cup progress

Milan Primavera booked their place in the last 32 of the Coppa Italia with a win against Catanzaro on Wednesday night.

It was back to losing ways for the Primavera side last weekend as Fiorentina prevailed by four goals to two. It was a result that was never really in doubt, and the scoreline only looks a bit more respectable due to a late comeback attempt.

So, a bounce-back was needed and it came last night. A 2-1 win was well-earned by Giovanni Renna’s side over Catanzaro, securing a place in the Round of 32 of the 2026-27 Coppa Italia Primavera, where they will face Como.

Domniței opened the scoring from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time (45+1′), before Dotta struck the winner in the 83rd minute following Greco’s equaliser. They faced a Catanzaro side that – despite playing in the second division – arrived in excellent form, leading Group B with a perfect record.

It was far from a straightforward fixture, particularly amid a demanding schedule in which players are being called up to the Futuro, because of the first-team injury crisis. Attention now turns to the next league test, away to Monza on Saturday October 31st at 13:00 CET.
