Barrow held to draw by Eastleigh after late, late goals

Both goals came during the eighteen minutes of additional time.

The Bluebirds made five changes to the starting line-up that had come from two-nil down to win at Halifax in midweek.

The most notable was the inclusion of Pijus Otegbayo.

The 19-year-old centre-half is on loan from the Championship side Stoke City until January.

The match got off to a lively start, and it was Eastleigh who should have taken the lead inside two minutes; Aaron Blair latched on to a cross but, fortunately for Barrow, smashed the ball wide.

The Bluebirds then responded with Seb Thompson proving a constant threat on the left-hand side, and Marcel Oakley also getting in on the act; he had a shot well saved by Nick Townsend.

As the half wore on, Barrow continued to have the upper hand.

A well-worked Keaton Ward corner finished with Thierry Latty Fairweather shooting just wide after Rakeem Harper had misjudged the initial low cross.

Innes Cameron also had a chance from close range.

He miskicked inside the box when a slight touch would have probably given the Bluebirds the lead.

Barrow were doing most of the attacking but just couldn't force a breakthrough before the break.

In the second half, the best of the early chances fell to Seb Thompson after Rakeem Harper fed him the ball inside the box, but the home crowd watched in despair as Thompson blasted his shot too high.

The visitors then felt they had a good shout for a penalty after the ball appeared to come off Marcel Oakley's hand.

But their appeals were turned down by the referee, Paul Marsden.

Barrow boss Adam Murray then made a triple substitution, Mooney, Marriot and, in favour again, Katia Kouate all coming on for Allen, Ward and Harper.

The flow of the game was then disrupted after a lengthy break in the sixty-seventh minute following an injury to the Eastleigh defender Temi Eweka.

He appeared to have injured his neck after a collision in the visitors' box with Seb Thompson and was eventually stretchered off after receiving treatment from both sides' medical staff.

After the restart, it was once again Barrow doing most of the pressing.

A Cameron header and a Marriot shot both went just wide before the game went into an almost unheard-of eighteen minutes of stoppage time.

Barrow finally got the all-important breakthrough in the 94th minute.

It followed great work by Innes Cameron, he controlled a high ball, took it down the right-hand side, and his cross was met from close range by Dan Mooney.

That looked to be enough to have secured all three points, but the Hampshire side had other ideas, as Aaron Blair finished off a well-worked move in the 101st minute.

Barrow will now have a break from their league duties as the FA Cup takes centre stage on Saturday with a trip to Gillingham.
