Weymouth to welcome back Bearwish for Sholing Fa Trophy game

The Terras skipper missed the club's last two games after coming off injured in the 1-0 win over Westbury United but manager Jamie Wells confirmed the midfielder is back available for selection.

Speaking ahead of the game, he said: "It looks like Bear will be back with us. He may have been out but he was always in and around the team.

"He is so influential even when he is not playing so to have him back is a massive boost for everyone."

There was less good news for goal scoring winger Brooklyn Genesini who is a doubt for the game.

Wells admitted it might be 'a little while' before the Terras number 7 returns, hinting at next weekend's game with Tiverton as a possible return date.

Matt Neale and Kieran Douglas - who both missed the midweek win over Bristol Manor Farm - are also doubts and will be assessed ahead of Saturday's game at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Wells added: "Nealey and Kieran are touch and go, a bit like Brook, so it's likely they'll be available the week after but we'll see how they are feeling and make a decision."

The Terras boss also welcomed the return to full fitness of experienced midfielder Wes Fogden who was used off the bench in the club's last two games after his own spell on the sidelines.

On Fogden's availability, he said: "Yeah, it's great to have Wes and Bear available for selection and a real boost. I'm sure Sholing will be disappointed to see them both return for this game."

The Terras head into the first-round clash on the back of four successive victories since their FA Cup campaign was ended by SE Dons at the beginning of October.

They also go into the game top of Southern League Division One South, after their impressive second half display against The Farm in midweek sent to the summit.

However, Sholing will travel to Dorset buoyed by their recent run of results having lost only twice in their last 10 games.

Their recent run included a 2-0 win over SE Dons last weekend to send them into the FA Cup firs round proper.

Former Terras man Jake McCarthy will be a player to watch having notched three league goals this season and is one of the Boatmen's key players.

Saturday’s FA Trophy encounter at the Bob Lucas Stadium kicks off at 3pm.
