Oliver Boast brace leads Tottenham Under-18s to 3-1 victory over Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur Under 18s bounced back to winning ways on Saturday, beating AFC Bournemouth 3-1 away. Striker Oliver Boast scored twice on the south coast, and substitute Armend Muslika sealed the win.

Tottenham Hotspur Under 18s boss Jamie Carr was glad to see his side win again on Saturday. Heading into their first meeting with Bournemouth, Spurs had taken one point from their last two games. Speaking to Tottenham Hotspur media after the 3-1 win, Carr said, “First of all, it was pleasing to get back to winning ways. From a general performance point of view, it was a bit of a mixed one.”

Even so, Spurs wasted no time taking the lead at the Cherries’ new training ground. Just seven minutes in, Oliver Boast met Ollie Salter across from the right to finish at the near post. Before half-time, however, goalkeeper Mikel Jack had to make two sharp low saves to deny Leyland Waite and Joe Spence. Those stops kept Tottenham in front as they headed into the break.

After the break, the visitors stepped up a gear and took charge of the game. Aidan Guanchez cleared one Boast shot off the line, but the striker made it two nil from the penalty spot in the 54th minute after a foul by Zach Sutton. Then, in the 72nd minute, substitute Armend Muslika swept home from the edge of the box after a cross from Joel Vidal Philbert. That third goal sealed the win.

Carr Calls On Young Spurs To Cut Out Defensive Mistakes

Still, one late mistake at the back cost Mikel Jack a clean sheet. With fourteen minutes left, Waite robbed Spurs captain Tyler Tingey inside the box and scored a consolation goal for the hosts. At the other end, keeper Zach Melin tipped away a fierce strike from George Jobling, and Cayon Hanson made a vital late block. As per the official website, Spurs had chances to win by even more.

Looking back on the game, Carr praised his defence on set plays while warning against errors on the ball. He said, “We just need to make sure we eliminate the individual errors in decision making at times, and that will help us moving forward.” Carr added, “We have been very unlucky at times, so it is good for the lads, and it sets us up nicely for a trip to Newcastle in the cup next week.”
