Rangers may have dropped points in a frustrating 2-2 draw away at Dundee on Saturday, but midfielder Nicolas Raskin produced a moment of magic at Dens Park that left even the most critical pundits completely speechless.
The Belgian midfielder picked up the ball outside the penalty area before unleashing a devastating knuckleball strike that crashed in off the underside of the crossbar – a thunderbolt that instantly threw itself into the goal of the season conversation.
Revisiting the match on the latest episode of the STV Radio Football Show, hosts Ronnie Charters, Callum Bell, and Ewen Cameron were in unanimous agreement over the quality on display.
Co-host Charters kicked off the reaction by exclaiming, “When Raskin scores, unreal man!“ while Bell simply summed up the strike in one word: “Screamer.”

It was Hearts fan and STV presenter Cameron, however, who broke down why Raskin’s technique was so impossible to stop for the Dundee goalkeeper. Reflecting on the flight of the ball and the sheer power behind the hit, Cameron admitted he was left stunned by the trajectory:
“What a goal! I still don’t know how he does that. It’s not even in the ‘corner’ corner, but the technique… even if there were two goalkeepers in there, they were not getting anywhere near that.
“It was an unbelievable strike, and it looks even better when it hits the underside of the crossbar. It was a great goal, and I thought if you’re going to win a game, you want to win the game like that, but Dundee, all praise to them.”
While the overall result left Derek McInnes’ side feeling aggrieved at two dropped points on the road, Raskin’s individual brilliance highlights the growing influence he is exerting over the Rangers midfield this season.
If the Belgian international can continue adding long-range goals of this calibre to his defensive work rate, McInnes will possess one of the most complete box-to-box operators in the Scottish Premiership.
That is why McInnes will be keen to hold off interest from rival clubs when the January transfer window opens in less than three months. Besiktas have already been credited with an interest in the midfielder.
There is talk of the Turkish giants making a £12.7million move for the former Standard Liege star. They have reportedly tasked Leandro Trossard with meeting Raskin and convincing him over a winter move to Istanbul.
