Less than two and a half years ago, Skye Blakely withered in pain on the world’s biggest stage.
Blakely, one of the top elite gymnasts in the world, ruptured her Achilles at the U.S. Olympic Trials. A virtual lock for the 2024 Summer Olympics squad, Blakely missed her chance due to factors out of her control.
For the next two years, the Frisco, Texas, native starred for Florida gymnastics before she finally made her return to all-around play in August.
Friday, Blakely completed her full comeback.
The Gator junior won the all-around title at the 2026 World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands. She became the first gymnast to compete collegiately and win all-around at worlds in the same year. Last year, Florida gymnastics alum Leanne Wong became the first to medal when she took home silver.
Blakely scored at least a 12.933 on all four events to tally a 55.733 in total. Russia’s Liudmila Roshchina claimed silver.
The 21-year-old is also the only gymnast to qualify for four individual finals as well. She returns home with a bronze in vault and is still yet to compete on uneven bars and balance beam.
The Gators open their season on Saturday, January 9, in Greenville, South Carolina at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad vs. UCLA, LSU and Oklahoma at 2 p.m. on ABC.
