Talks between AC Milan and Markus Krösche are not advanced, one journalist has claimed, with compensation an issue to overcome.
Milan were linked with hiring Krösche during the summer when their hunt for a new Head of Football was well publicised. However, in the end Eintracht Frankfurt put up a wall and stopped him leaving, though Gerry Cardinale chose to leave the vacancy unfilled.
On Sunday night, while the Rossoneri were beating Atalanta to move back into the top four, news broke that Krösche had left his role with the Bundesliga club. Matteo Moretto quickly reported that he is on the verge of joining Milan after all, which has also since been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
German sources Bild and Kicker have also revealed their belief that an imminent move to Italy is behind the Eintracht separation, but Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has thrown some new information into the mix.
His tweet reads as follows: “Markus Krösche secured an exit clause as part of his departure agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt. Any club looking to appoint Krösche before summer 2027 would have to pay around €5-7m, unless clubs agree otherwise.
“Krösche want to SGE benefit financially from his departure, just as they benefited from his major player sales. CEO Hellmann and president Beck impressed.
“AC Milan remain in contact with Krösche. Never broken down since the summer. New talks are planned, but currently no advanced negotiations. MK planning a short break first. A fresh start from January possible. Clubs have not yet made contact.”
According to Sky, Krösche gave a highly emotional farewell to the team on Monday morning, receiving a standing ovation after his speech. This evening, around 18:15 CEST, he plans to give a proper and dignified send-off to the fans at the members’ meeting.
