It’s Week 8, and the injuries are starting to pile up across the league, with Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson among the latest to head to the treatment room. Jackson is set to undergo surgery on his thumb and was placed on injured reserve, leaving Baltimore to reassess its quarterback room.

Fourth-year Chicago Bears quarterback Tyson Bagent has been linked, to that tune, and Bears fans made it clear they wouldn’t mind getting some assets on the trade market for their backup quarterback.

Bears Fans React to Tyson Bagent Trade Speculation

Jason La Canfora reported that the Ravens reached out to the Bears over Bagent, as Jackson’s thumb injury is likely to keep him out for the rest of the season, leaving Baltimore with Tyler Huntley, who also injured his toe, and Joe Fagnano as the only options.

One fan made a hilarious suggestion for the Ravens’ potential trade for Bagent.

“Tyson Bagent for Derrick Henry. Final offer,” the fan wrote.

Another fan was convinced that the Bears will not trade Bagent.

“Bears aren’t trading him; let’s move on. Nothing to see here,” the fan remarked.

One fan offered to give away Bagent to the Ravens for free.

“WE’LL GIVE HIM TO YOU FOR FREE,” the fan posted.

PFN analyst Jacob Infante did not put much stock in La Canfora’s reporting, but pointed out Bagent’s links to Ravens offensive coordinator Declan Doyle.

“Years of pattern analysis tell me to not put much faith in Jason La Canfora rumors, but it would make sense for the Ravens to contact the Bears about Tyson Bagent, given their QB situation and his ties to Declan Doyle. We shall see,” Infante theorized.

Another Bears fan was not too keen on the idea of Chicago trading away its second-string quarterback for a multitude of reasons.

“Trading our backup QB on the eve of a really important MNF game wouldn’t be ideal. Trading him at any point this year, given Caleb’s hamstring, wouldn’t be ideal. If they’re calling Chicago, they have to know the price is a second-day pick,” the fan opined.

One Bears fan welcomed the links for the former Shepherd Rams quarterback.

“That would be awesome to get anything for Bagent. I never want to see him take another snap in a Bear uniform,” the fan wrote.

After breaking several records while playing for the Shepherd Rams, Bagent went undrafted during the 2023 NFL Draft. Bagent was signed by the Bears and surprisingly made the 53-man roster after impressive performances during preseason, and by Week 4, he was the team’s second-string quarterback.

He made his first NFL start against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7 of the 2023 season, becoming the first undrafted rookie quarterback to start for Chicago since at least 1960.

Bagent served as Justin Fields’ backup in 2023 and Caleb Williams’ backup after the former Heisman Trophy winner was selected No. 1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. He signed a two-year, $10 million contract extension with the Bears last year.

Bagent has amassed 409 yards on 65.6% completion and 3 interceptions for the Bears this season in limited game time. The Bears will likely be cushioned against losing Bagent by Keenum, who has performed adequately in Williams’ absence.
