“Celtic Broke You” – STV Journalist Responds to Ewen Cameron Meltdown

STV journalist Ronnie Charters has accused colleague Ewen Cameron of an anti-Celtic bias after he claimed all seven goals they scored were down to Hearts’ poor play.

The pair appeared on their weekly STV Radio Football Podcast and discussed Celtic’s convincing win, which saw the sides meet for the first time since the Hoops’ final-day title win last season.

Cameron, a vocal Hearts fan, said Hearts “gift-wrapped” their opponents every goal and focused more on their performances than giving Martin O’Neill’s side credit.

That’s when Charters interjected, saying that the Celts “broke” Cameron after last season’s dramatic title win on the last day.

“Celtic broke you as a person last year, right? You can’t get over that”, Charters said.

“What you’ve got now is a negative slant on Celtic forever. So when they win 7-1, rip you a new one, and tear you apart, you still can’t say they were a great team when they win.

“But that’s fine, we know where you are, we’re not expecting that anymore, because you’re biased.”

Charters couldn’t help but throw another number seven joke in there during his statement, even mentioning Callum Osmand’s third goal, which ensured the title was retained.

“Internally, there’s a thing in you where every time you shut your eyes, you see Callum Osmand running up the park, and you won’t get over it for a long time, and that’s fine”, Charters said.

“One day you will get over it, just not today. Maybe in seven days’ time.”

Of course, Ewen Cameron replied, and he doubled down on his verdict on Hearts’ 7-1 defeat: “I don’t have any hatred, I’m not biased in any way. I was very gracious when Celtic won the league last year. I was one of the very few Hearts fans that didn’t peddle any of the conspiracy s**** that was going round, I didn’t.

“On Sunday, Hearts had a massive hand in us conceding the seven goals. It wasn’t anything amazing that Celtic did, we were defensively poor, and we basically handed Celtic the goals on a plate.

“We handed you all seven goals. It got nothing to do with hatred. That was my analysis and my interpretation.”

Charters gave Cameron what could be called a few home truths, but the Hearts fan stuck to his belief and didn’t credit the Hoops for a refreshing attacking display.

Of course, there were moments when Wouter Vrancken’s side looked seriously lacklustre, but O’Neill’s side clicked, and when that happens in front of a home crowd, few teams can keep them at bay.
