Retirement is a rather loose concept in the pro wrestling world as thousands of in-ring performers have failed to resist the itch to return to action at some point in their careers. Kaitlyn, meanwhile, has remained firm in staying away from the ring for several years now.
During an interview with "Insight With Chris Van Vliet," the former WWE Divas Champion revealed her intention to keep it that way, largely due to her lack of desire to return.
"I hope no one hates me for this, but I don't really want to get back in the ring," Kaitlyn said. "I respect wrestling a lot, and I find it very entertaining. I love the artistry of it. I don't think I could ever have the appreciation that I have now if I had never been a professional wrestler. Because there are so many aspects to the performance. There's so many things to think about. The psychology of the match, connecting with people, telling a story with your face and your body, protecting your face and your body, protecting the person that you're in the ring with, helping them perform to their best. Knowing where the cameras are, knowing how much time you have, being able to change it up if the people in the audience aren't buying it, if they don't care about it, so there's so much to it."
Kaitlyn, real name Celeste Bonin, last competed at a special Annual Toy Drive held by Gangrel's Wrestling Asylum in December 2019. Three years later, WWE invited her to potentially compete in the 2022 Women's Royal Rumble. Her in-ring appearance ultimately did not pan out, however, as several other WWE legends, including The Bella Twins and then-Knockouts Champion Mickie James, entered the match instead.
Kaitlyn's first run in WWE spanned from 2010 until her departure in early 2014. She later made a brief comeback in the 2018 Mae Young Classic.
