The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made two roster moves Saturday ahead of their Week 6 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, elevating quarterback Easton Stick and running back Josh Williams from the practice squad.
According to Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com, both players will be eligible to play Sunday as Tampa Bay deals with injuries at quarterback and running back.
Stick will serve as the backup to rookie Jalon Daniels, who is preparing for his third consecutive start while Baker Mayfield recovers from a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand. Mayfield did not practice this week and was ruled out Friday.
The veteran quarterback Easton Stick has appeared in six NFL games, making four starts while completing 111 of 174 passes for 1,129 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Stick also has experience working with offensive coordinator Zac Robinson, having spent the 2025 season with the Atlanta Falcons.
Williams' elevation comes with Sean Tucker questionable because of a quad injury. Head coach Todd Bowles confirmed Friday that Tucker's availability will be determined following a pregame workout, leaving Tampa Bay with some uncertainty in its backfield.
Williams has appeared in one game this season, returning a kickoff for 47 yards against Cincinnati in Week 1. He played three games for Tampa Bay in 2025, recording four carries for 11 yards and five kickoff returns for 129 yards.
The moves also carry roster implications. Stick has now reached the three-elevation limit for the regular season, meaning Tampa Bay would need to sign him to the active roster to use him again this season. Williams has been elevated twice and remains eligible for one more standard elevation.
Both players will automatically return to the practice squad following Sunday's game. While Stick provides quarterback depth behind Daniels, Williams gives Tampa Bay another running back option if Tucker is unable to play.
