Woodman has departed Hayes Lane with immediate effect after Bromley confirmed his contract had been terminated by mutual consent.
The Ravens have endured a challenging start to their first-ever campaign in League One and are 22nd in the table, following their promotion as League Two champions, last season.
Woodman, who had been in charge at Bromley for more than five years, previously played for the U's during his goalkeeping career.
He initially joined Colchester on loan in 2000 before signing permanently ahead of the 2001-02 campaign and made 48 league appearances for the club, in addition to six during his loan spell.
Bromley have placed Byron Webster in interim charge of first-team affairs while they search for a permanent replacement for Woodman.
A club statement read: “Bromley Football Club can confirm Andy Woodman is to depart his role as manager with immediate effect following the mutual termination of his contract.

“Byron Webster will be taking charge of all first team affairs on an interim basis whilst the club appoint a permanent replacement.”
Woodman leaves having overseen a hugely successful period in Bromley's history.
The former U's goalkeeper guided the Ravens to FA Trophy glory in his first full season before leading them into the EFL for the first time in their 132-year history.
Bromley then won promotion again under Woodman last season, claiming the League Two title to reach the third tier for the first time.
Owner and chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves paid tribute to Woodman following his departure.
He said: “I would firstly like to offer my sincere thanks to Andy for all he has achieved during his time with us.
“It’s no surprise that this club has reached new heights and Andy has been fundamental in helping us achieve that.
“I would like to reassure our supporters that we will be entering this new chapter with the same ambition and determination to keep moving this football club forward.
“On a personal note, Andy has been a pleasure to work with, and I wish him all the best for the future.”

Woodman also came up against his former club during his time in charge of Bromley.
He described his side as “terrible” after Colchester claimed a 1-0 League Two victory at Hayes Lane in January 2025, courtesy of an early Owura Edwards goal.
Woodman departs Bromley with three trophies to his name, with the club thanking him for overseeing what they described in their statement as the most successful period in their history.
