Langstaff at the double as Salford beat bottom-of-the-table Crawley 2-1

Macaulay Langstaff scores twice, with Cesay also getting both assists as Salford City stay top after a solid 2-1 victory.

The Ammies made a promising start in the first 10 minutes, with a shot from Luke Molyneux forcing a save from the Crawley Town keeper.

The home side were able to take their chance shortly after in the 17th minute when Langstaff scored his first of the game after he bumbled it in from Cesay’s cross from the right-hand side.

Salford had chances to increase their lead in the first half when Cesay went on a good run, but his shot was too late and went wide of the post.

Langstaff added to his tally 4 minutes into the second half when Cesay’s pass found him at the centre of the goal 8 yards out and he curled it into the bottom right-hand corner.

Crawley did get a consolation goal from Morgan. The attacker was able to place the ball into the bottom corner to prevent a clean sheet for The Ammies.

Langstaff was close to completing the hat-trick, but a stunning dive was able to push out a shot from distance. Salford were able to keep the Red Devils at bay, though in the final stages, as they won the three points at home.

Crawley stay bottom of the table, but Salford City get their 5th win in a row, maintaining their position at the top of the League.
