The club, which is facing financial difficulties, launched a 'Fighting Fund' to secure their future.
Rangers boss McInnes, who is a 'Ton Hall of Fame' member, played more than 200 matches for Greenock Morton.
He contributed to the fundraising event alongside Tam Cowan in Blackfriars, Glasgow, last week.
The event was successful, and McInnes received public recognition from the club.
A statement from the club's official social media account said: "Off The Bar with Derek McInnes.
#"An incredible total of just under ᆪ3,000 has been raised towards the Fighting Fund following Tam Cowan's recent night with Morton Hall of Famer, Derek McInnes!
"We would like to say a huge thank you to Tam and Derek for their support of the Fighting Fund.
"Every penny raised, whether it's a donation, ticket sale, hospitality purchase or sponsorship, will continue to make a difference and help support the future of Greenock Morton Football Club. Tickets remain available to purchase for Tam Cowan's second night at The Albany on Sunday 8th November and donations to the Fighting Fund can be made at any point through Fanbase!"
