Patrick Reed has a better chance at making the 2027 Ryder Cup team than two-time U.S. Open Champion Bryson DeChambeau, according to PGA Tour broadcaster Brendon de Jonge.
DeChambeau is yet to depart from LIV Golf amid ongoing speculation over his future, while the DP World Tour announced just days ago that no LIV Golfer will be allowed to play in their events in 2027.
DeChambeau joined LIV Golf in June 2022 while Reed left the circuit at the beginning of the 2026 season. He’s paved his way back onto the PGA Tour, as the 36-year-old sits first in the Race to Dubai standings whie DeChambeau missed three of four cuts at the majors this year.
Speaking on the Five Clubs podcast, Gary Williams asked de Jonge who had a better chance at seeing Adare Manor next year.
“Reed,” said de Jonge. “Definitely. Not even close.” Asked why he thought that, de Jonge noted the difference in Tours.
“We know where Reed is going to be playing. He's going to be playing on the PGA Tour next year. We don't know what Bryson's doing,” said de Jonge.
“I think Reed gained a lot of respect from the way he's gone about everything, essentially without saying it, admitting that he made a mistake and he wants to be back on the PGA Tour. As I said, the way that he's handled everything, I think he's gained a lot of respect amongst his peers.”
Although Reed previously criticized the U.S. Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk over his pairing choices at the 2018 event in France, the two have since resolved their past issues.
"We are going to put the best 12 guys, the best team of 12 on this team; if Patrick Reed is one of those, that's great," Furyk said just days ago.
"It's been a long time since he's been in our team room. I'm going to say, maybe '21 was the last time I think he played on either a Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup [team].
"Patrick and I will have that conversation, and I'm looking forward to welcoming our best team of 12."
DeChambeau took part in the 2025 Ryder Cup and could make the team thanks to a captains pick or automatic qualifier.
