Rangers make the trip to Tayside to face Dundee FC at Dens Park on Saturday evening, with Derek McInnes’ side looking to extend their brilliant momentum and seize the top spot in the Scottish Premiership.
The Light Blues head into the fixture riding high on a seven-game winning streak across all competitions, having secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Ibrox last weekend. With league leaders Celtic not in action until Sunday against Hearts, a win on Tayside will lift Rangers to the summit of the table.
Steven Pressley’s Dundee side sit fourth in the standings and return to action following a successful return from the international break, having edged past Falkirk 2-1. However, maintaining that form against a surging Rangers side will be a severe test for the Dens Park outfit.
The defender is one of the best in Scotland…
Defender Dujon Sterling caused some brief concern among supporters after being replaced at half-time during last weekend’s win over Kilmarnock.
However, manager McInnes has since allayed those fears, confirming that Sterling’s withdrawal was purely down to an illness rather than a structural injury. The right-back is fully expected to be fit and available for selection against Dundee.
McInnes continues to navigate a few notable absentees within his squad. Long-term injury victims Lawrence Shankland and Youssef Chermiti remain sidelined. Chermiti recently made a welcome appearance by visiting a Rangers charity programme following his recent surgery, but a return to competitive action is still some way off.
Midfielder Cammy Devlin has also joined the treatment table at Rangers after picking up a hamstring injury in the dying minutes of the tense 1-0 win over Celtic prior to the international break. Meanwhile, Japanese attacker Daisuke Yokota remains out following his surgical procedure.
Rangers predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ivor Pandur; Dujon Sterling, Emmanuel Fernandez, Olwethu Makhanya, James Penrice; Nicolas Raskin, Dan Neil; Minsu Kim, Ryan Naderi, Djeidi Gassama; Kevin Kelsy.
