Huddersfield Town midfielder Cameron Humphreys reflected on a “really good performance” from his side after they claimed a 2-0 victory at former League One leaders Plymouth Argyle.
The Terriers recorded an impressive win at Home Park on Saturday, as they leapfrogged their hosts to move up to third in the table. Derensili Sanches Fernandes gave Town an early lead with his third goal in as many games, and his fifth strike of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Bojan Radulovic sealed the Terriers’ victory with his third of the season ten minutes into the second half.
Following his side’s win, Humphreys, who was handed the captain’s armband for Saturday’s encounter, told BBC Radio Leeds: “I think we showed a lot of what we’re about, we showed a lot of good things at the top end of the pitch, creating chances.
“Again, we’d like to put more away and be a bit more out of sight, especially in the first half, but we showed we’ve got fight.
“The boys at the back that came in won every header, every duel, which is what we needed against a direct team like that, so I thought from start to finish, a really good performance.”
Town squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against Sheffield Wednesday in their last home fixture, but saw out the victory this time around to return to winning ways.
“I think it’s kind of showing that as a group, we’re learning from the experiences of previous weeks,” Ipswich loanee Humphreys added.
“Obviously we don’t want that to happen again, and hopefully we find ourselves one or two goals up – maybe even more – more times in the season, so hopefully we deal with it a bit more like we did today.
“Again, we didn’t have loads of the ball towards the end, and we’d maybe like more, but with the situation of the game, they’re going to throw more attackers on and they’re going to have attacks, but we didn’t drop as deep. I felt we got up to the ball, and probably kept it a bit better when we did get it, so I thought we managed the game better.”
