Jordan Southgate quits Wroxham after almost 350 games

Southgate led the Isthmian League North side to their highest ever finish last season, but says it is time to take a back seat from the game.

"After a lot of thought and consideration, I have made the decision to resign as first team manager at Wroxham Football Club," he said in a statement on the club web site.

"Firstly, I want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my time at the club.

"To every player who has represented the club and played under me, the staff, volunteers, committee, sponsors and supporters, I am incredibly grateful to you all.

"After almost 350 games, it is a job I am extremely proud of.

"There have been some incredible highs and special experiences that I will treasure forever.

"Matching the club’s highest-ever league finish last season was a particularly proud moment, and when I look back at the progress the club has made during my time as manager, it is something I will always be incredibly proud of.

"This decision has been made for a number of reasons and is something I have thought long and hard about.

"I have always set high standards for myself and the team, and ultimately, I take responsibility for our shortcomings in cup competitions.

"We haven’t achieved what I would have wanted in those competitions, and I feel it is important to acknowledge that.

"Football has been a huge part of my life for a long time, and I feel now is the right time to take a step back, enjoy a break from the game and, most importantly, spend some more time with my family.

"Wroxham will always hold a special place in my heart.

"I have given an awful lot to this football club over the years, but I have also received so much in return.

"I leave with some fantastic memories, friendships and a huge amount of pride in what we have achieved together.

"I wish everyone connected with the club nothing but success for the future. Thank you for everything."

Yachtsmen chairman, James Blower said: "It's been an absolute pleasure working with Jordan for what is now almost four years.

"We've shared some incredible moments and I hold him in incredibly high regard as coach, manager and most importantly as a person.

"Jordan has continuously overachieved with the resources he has and has improved the team year on year and should rightly be very proud of what he has done in the role.

"While I do not want him to leave, and have tried to get him to reconsider, I do understand why it is right for him personally to do so.

"I want to thank him for everything he has done for the Club, and I wish him nothing but the best for the future.

"He leaves with my immense gratitude and respect."

Ryan Fuller and Daz Plowman-Read will take the team for the away match on Saturday at Cambridge City.
