Jamie O’Hara has made an ambitious prediction for the season after Tottenham won three games on the bounce, but feels it needs one man nowhere near the side.
Spurs started the season in horror fashion and it looked like they might be staring down the barrel of another relegation fight. After two 17th-placed finishes in a row, another bad season would be a catastrophe for a ‘big-six’ side.
But though Tottenham were in the relegation places not long ago, they’re beginning to turn things around.
They’ve beaten Coventry, Chelsea and Crystal Palace in the last three games, moving to ninth in the Premier League as a result.
In those games, they’ve scored seven goals and only conceded once.
It could all come crashing down when they face a side whose name doesn’t begin with a C, but Tottenham do look in a good place.
Former Spurs man Jamie O’Hara is very positive about the side’s chances for the campaign.
He told Sky Sports: “The last three games we’ve been absolutely fantastic. Things are looking up, there’s a bit more confidence and belief in the team, and the manager does really look like he’s got this team playing.
“I believe that this team, we can get Europe.”
With Spurs having only just breached the top half of the Premier League, that prediction could be a bit hasty, though with the players at his disposal, many felt at the start of the season that Roberto De Zerbi would be able to engineer a successful campaign.
While O’Hara is positive about the season as a whole, he feels Dominic Solanke should not be playing a part.
He said: “Solanke isn’t good enough. He’s a solid Premier League striker. Spurs need a star up front.”
Solanke played as the No.9 in the victory over Palace, with Omar Marmoush in behind him.
Had James Maddison have been fully fit, he’d likely have played as the No.10, with Marmoush potentially up top, where he’s mostly played this season.
The Manchester City loanee had a better game than Solanke, though both men are on just one goal for the season so far in the Premier League.
Spurs wouldn’t have signed Marmoush had they not felt he could have an impact on their side, so even if Solanke isn’t given many minutes, it feels unlikely they’ll abandon the Egyptian for a new attacker so soon.
