NFL insider lists 3 potential Detroit Lions CB, LB trade targets

The NFL trade deadline is now one week away. The deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 4 p.m. ET.

The Detroit Lions have a definite need at cornerback. The Lions might also be looking for linebacker help given the uncertainty of Jack Campbell's scary injury situation and after the season-ending injury to rookie linebacker Jimmy Rolder.

NFL insider Albert Breer of SI believes the Lions are actively shopping cornerback help on the trade market, pointing back to the offseason release of Terrion Arnold as one of the reasons why.

"I would say right now they are looking for secondary help and they have been looking around for corners. And, of course, this is sort of a byproduct of the Terrion Arnold situation. You expected to have your former first-round pick out there. What happened in the offseason, happened. They made the move to cut him. That looks like the right move based upon everything that's happened since. The Seahawks still haven't been able to get him on the field, but it did leave them with a pretty significant hole at the corner position," Breer said.

Though Detroit's defense has improved over its past three games, the Lions still rank last in the NFL in passing defense (276.6 passing yards allowed per game), 29th in total defense (373.1 yards allowed per game), and 23rd in scoring defense (25.7 points allowed per game).

Breer listed Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Riq Woolen and Washington Commanders cornerback Mike Sainristil as potential trade targets.

"A couple of names that have at least been out there that the Lions could look at. One is Tariq Woolen in Philly. Similar to Hollywood Brown, came to Philadelphia on a one-year deal. Obviously, the Eagles are now at a point having lost six straight games where they might be looking to offload some guys to try to collect some assets. So, Tariq Woolen is a bigger, longer player in the secondary, somebody the Lions could look at.

"And then a different type of corner--this is one people at Michigan will be familiar with--Mike Sainristil with the Washington Commanders. I'm not saying again that the Commanders are looking to move him, but he's somebody that the more people I've talk to, the more it seems like he could be available as sort of like a little bit of a reclamation project. He's got outside-inside versatility. He's probably better inside, but he's somebody that you could add to your secondary. Again, would that be a little redundant with Branch? You've got to play Sainristil a little bit outside more than maybe you want to. Is that a functional thing? Those are the questions you've got to answer, but I think Mike Sainristil could be somebody the Lions could look at. So, they're certainly looking for help at that position," Breer said.

Woolen, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound corner out of UTSA, has appeared in 72 NFL games, starting 61 times. Woolen has registered 12 interceptions, 59 passes defended, 233 tackles, and three tackles for loss in his NFL career. During his rookie season with Seattle in 2022, Woolen registered six interceptions.

Sainristil, a 5-foot-10, 182-pound corner, has played in 41 games, starting 32 across his three-year NFL career. The Michigan product has six career interceptions, 26 passes defended, three tackles for loss, and 196 tackles.

Breer also didn't rule out the possibility that the Lions could look for linebacker help.

"Now, linebacker, this is interesting, because, of course, the situation with Jack Campbell. Real-life implications here, we're not trivializing any of that. But, there is the fact that that leaves a significant hole for the Lions at the linebacker position. And so, would you make a call on somebody like Jordyn Brooks in Miami? I don't think Miami wants to let go of its veteran leaders, but they're another team that needs players. I look at Jordyn Brooks as somebody that you could potentially make a move for if you're willing to put something valuable in front of the Dolphins to try and shore up that hole. And he's somebody that could be around for an extended period. A lot of that is going to depend on Jack Campbell's status.

"Again, I don't want to talk too much about this in football terms, because I think we're more worried about him as a human being right now. But, again, there are football implications to that. Sending our very best to Jack Campbell. Just a really tough situation there. I'd say the Lions are definitely looking at corner and could be sniffing around at linebacker a little bit too over the course of the next couple of weeks because of what a big role Jack Campbell played for them on that defense. He was a leader of that group," Breer said.

Brooks led the NFL in tackles last season, racking up 183 tackles and 13 tackles for loss with the Dolphins in 2025. The 6-foot, 240-pound linebacker has 63 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one pass defensed thus far this season in Miami.

In his career, Brooks has registered 902 tackles, 13 sacks, 26 passes defended, and one interception.
