Hibs manager Marink Reedijk has identified Benjamin Nygren’s runs into the penalty area as a threat his side must handle when Celtic visit Easter Road.
The Swedish midfielder continues to make a significant contribution in front of goal, following up last season’s 21-goal return with another productive start to the campaign.
His movement is a major part of that threat. Nygren regularly gets beyond Celtic’s forwards or arrives in space as defenders turn their attention towards the ball.

Reedijk has clearly taken note, highlighting both the midfielder’s attacking instincts and Celtic’s attempts to isolate their wingers against defenders.
“Seeing Celtic last night and all the matches I’ve seen before, it is a team that wants to play from the back, a team that wants to take some risks with really good individual players and get their wingers in 1v1 scenarios.
“[Benjamin] Nygren is a number ten who wants to be and likes to be in the box, makes runs in-behind, and they have several players to chose who they put on the pitch, so this is what I expect from Celtic.
“It’s important that we see improvement as soon as possible, not just for the fans but for me also.
“We saw this last Saturday, but now we need it to also contribute towards results and not only improve in certain areas on the pitch.
“It’s a match like any other one, and the three points are the most important thing.
“Celtic are a good team to play against and will give us challenges, but we can also give them challenges and keep the points in Edinburgh.”
There has been scrutiny of Nygren’s work without the ball, particularly when Celtic’s midfield has been exposed.
But his ability to find space at the other end remains valuable. His double in last weekend’s 7-1 victory over Hearts demonstrated how difficult he can be to track.
Hibs will have their work cut out for them; recognising those runs is one thing, following them while also dealing with Celtic’s wide players will be the challenge.
Reedijk is looking for his own side to turn signs of improvement into points.
Celtic should expect a demanding afternoon, regardless of Hibs’ struggles under their new boss.
