The Canaries academy graduate, who re-joined Pompey from Hull in the summer, is yet to open his account and has recorded only one assist, despite being a constant member of John Mousinho's side.
Kamara will now find himself back on familiar territory at Carrow Road as Portsmouth prepare to face Norwich, the club where he progressed through the academy before leaving permanently.
His first spell at Fratton Park as a loan player from City proved transformative, but replicating that impact has been more difficult since his return. Mousinho, though, insists there are no concerns over the former Canaries youngster and believes the key is ensuring Kamara retains his confidence while searching for his best form.
"The message to Abu is stick with it, stay positive and keep taking the full-back on," Mousinho told Portsmouth News.
"Keep running, keep working and things are going to drop for you - there’s absolutely no doubt about that. Wingers are wingers. Abs has been involved with goals, he’s just not scored himself yet.
"Things will definitely fall for him, I have absolutely no doubt about that.
"I’ve genuinely got no concerns about him, it’s just in the meantime we need to keep his confidence up and show the love that Abs deserves.
"The best way to really hit the ground running and get back that best form is with a load of support."
Mousinho has offered Kamara every opportunity to play his way back into form and believes there have already been signs that the winger who starred during Portsmouth's League One promotion campaign is beginning to re-emerge.
"The belief internally in Abs I would say is seen by us playing nine league games - he’s started all of them," the Pompey boss said.
"He’s played 90 minutes in the majority of the games - we love him to bits. We will get him there. To be honest, I don’t think he’s far off it at all.
"There’s been some real glimpses in the games he played, particularly on Sunday and last night. We’ve seen plenty of that and I think we are going to get the Abs back from the League One season."

Despite Norwich’s difficult start, Mousinho remains wary of the quality within Philippe Clement’s squad and believes the margins have gone against City in recent weeks.
"It's a great place to go and play football and it's a fantastic football club," Mousinho said. "It will be an interesting game.
"They're a really good side. They haven't had the start to the season that they would have liked but they're dangerous and I've seen them in games where the margins have probably gone against them.
"I saw them against Swansea where they went a goal up but Swansea scored two goals. They're littered with talent. I looked at the bench (against Southampton) and it's very strong with some players coming back. They're a strong squad with a very good coach, it'll be a good test."
