What NFL players will be traded next week? Jacoby Brissett was the only player traded ahead of Week 9, with teams around the league seemingly waiting until closer to the NFL trade deadline to make moves. While it’s unlikely we see any movement this week, there are plenty of NFL rumors out there right now about players and clubs around the league.
Let’s dive into our NFL trade rumors roundup for Friday morning.
The case could be made that the Green Bay Packers getting back All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons a few weeks after the NFL trade deadline counts as a big addition. It is evidently not one that general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur would be entirely satisfied with. ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported this week that the Packers have “checked in on” both the running back market and offensive linemen. Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is known to be on their radar. On the offensive line, the Philadelphia Eagles might be open to moving veteran Landon Dickerson. There are limited options on both fronts, but Green Bay is making efforts to improve the worst rushing offense in the NFL.
The New York Jets have an abundance of offensive talent with almost too many mouths to feed with one football. It is a situation that seemed unimaginable just two years ago. While Adonai Mitchell and Omar Cooper Jr. have both broken onto the scene this year, the Jets have made it emphatically clear that wide receiver Garrett Wilson is not available whatsoever. Meanwhile, running back Braelon Allen has looked like one of the best players at his position over the last five weeks. Despite that and the number of contenders in the market for a running back (Packers, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, and Cincinnati Bengals), SNY‘s Connor Hughes reports that the Jets front office has not had “realistic conversations” about trading him and they envision a backfield committee with Hall and Allen for the future.
It’s already been confirmed that head coach John Harbaugh personally called Tennessee Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk in an effort to acquire All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons. That move didn’t pan out, but it does reportedly reflect how New York is approaching the NFL trade deadline. SportsNet New York‘s Connor Hughes reported on Wednesday reports that Harbaugh’s desires to upgrade the roster are a big reason why New York is “all over” running back Jonathan Taylor. New York is being aggressive in its willingness to reach out to teams, but the front office is reportedly wanting players “at their price” and they thus far haven’t been willing to go outside their comfort zone in terms of acquisition cost. In addition to running back, New York remains in the market for help on the interior defensive line.
The Jacksonville Jaguars played their last game before the NFL trade deadline on Thursday Night Football, winning 33-10. Brian Thomas Jr. only played 19 offensive snaps, a sizable tick down from the 51.9 percent snap rate he had in Week 8 in a potential showcase game for NFL teams. Ralph Vacchiano of FOX Sports spoke to executives around the league, with a majority of them saying that Thomas Jr. will be dealt by Tuesday. The Washington Commanders, Kansas City Chiefs, and Pittsburgh Steelers are reported to be a few of the clubs interested in the 2024 Pro Bowl selection.
Two of the most prominent players to pop up in NFL trade rumors this season are Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor and wide receiver Josh Downs. Indianapolis made its intentions clear by dealing away Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner, opening the door to a rebuild. Teams have been calling ever since about Downs, Taylor, Keenan Allen, and defensive tackle Grover Stewart. While more trades are likely coming, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Thursday that the interim Colts front office plans to “revisit” offers over the weekend before following through on “trades that make sense” Monday and Tuesday. It is far from a guarantee at this point that Taylor is traded, with Downs, Stewart, and Allen likelier to be dealt.
With the Dallas Cowboys (3-5) underperforming, wide receiver George Pickens has recently popped up in NFL rumors. The All-Pro wide receiver is in a contract year and unlikely to be re-signed by Dallas this offseason, so it would make some sense to deal him for a Day 2 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft instead of waiting for him to walk this offseason and then get a compensatory selection in 2028. However, Ian Rapoport reported on NFL Live that he does not believe the Cowboys will be sellers at the NFL trade deadline because they still have a shot to win the NFC East. If Jerry Jones decides to be aggressive and buy, Arizona Cardinals edge rusher Josh Sweat is the name to watch.
The 0-7 Los Angeles Chargers are one of the biggest surprises of the 2026 NFL season. What is equally as stunning is how head coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Joe Hortiz are approaching things. Albert Breer, Tom Pelissero, and other NFL insiders have all indicated the Chargers have rebuffed trade inquiries as of this week. Edge rusher Khalil Mack, cornerback Donte Jackson, linebacker Daiyan Henley, and edge rusher Tuli Tuipulotu all have suitors at this moment. However, it seems the winless Chargers still are not willing to trade anyone away.
