Carolina Panthers wide receiver Jalen Coker has backed his quarterback, despite a disappointing loss in Green Bay.
Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers came up short on Thursday Night Football, slipping to 27-19 defeat to the Green Bay Packers.
Young threw for one touchdown and one interception, and also failed to convert on a two-point play.
Speaking after the loss, Jalen Coker defended Bryce Young, and took responsibility for not making enough plays to create better passing opportunities.
Coker said: “I think he’s got a lot on his plate. I mean, he’s trying to deliver the ball. He’s trying to do everything. This is not on him by any means.
“I mean, I need to be better for him. I need to get open better. I think it’s just, you know, football’s hard.”
Jalen Coker caught the touchdown pass from Young, but it was one of only two receptions he brought in, from five targets.
He totalled only 36 yards. It comes after he managed only nine yards in the Panthers’ loss to Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. He has 364 receiving yards for the season.
Running back Chuba Hubbard also had a touchdown on the ground, clocking up 81 yards on the night.
Carolina still top the NFC South with at 3-4, but the division is wide open, with the Falcons sharing the same record.
