When looking at the NFL, Week 9 will jump off the page when looking at the quarterbacks who are looking to reach career milestones on Sunday. Let's look at who is chasing history this week.
Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen leads all quarterbacks in NFL history with 88 rushing touchdowns. He also ranks second-most in rushing yards with 4,991 since entering the NFL in 2018. With at least 9 more rushing yards against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football, Allen would join a list that includes Lamar Jackson, Michael Vick, Cam Newton, and Russell Wilson as the only QBs in NFL history with at least 5,000 rushing yards.
Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow leads the NFL in passing touchdowns this season with 20 so far. That includes 13 touchdown passes over his last three games. If Burrow throws 4 more touchdown passes against the Atlanta Falcons in Madrid on Sunday, he will become the fourth quarterback in NFL history with at least 4 touchdown passes in consecutive games. Joining Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Dan Marino.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes leads the NFL in touchdown passes since joining the league in 2017, with 325, including postseason games. If Mahomes throws 3 more touchdown passes against the New York Jets in Week 9, he will surpass Peyton Manning for the most touchdown passes in a player's first ten seasons.
New England Patriots QB Drake Maye ranks tied for second among quarterbacks with three rushing touchdowns this season and tied for fifth with 15 touchdown passes. Entering Week 9, he has recorded two touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown in each of his last two games. With 2 more touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers, Maye would become the sixth quarterback since 1970 with two or more passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in three consecutive games.
