Russell Crowe in WWE? It might sound like an unlikely Hollywood crossover, but the Oscar-winning is apparently open to stepping into the pro wrestling world.
According to WWE star Drew McIntyre, Crowe has voiced his ideas of them specifically working together in the ring, even for a potential WrestleMania appearance.
“Russell was legitimately talking about he wanted to do something a couple of times,” McIntyre told “The Joe Vulpis Podcast.” “He got all excited about us doing something together on the same team. He talked about WrestleMania or whatever. He talked about us having a manager, like an assistant, kind of lackey. It was more of a heel thing that he was coming up with. He had some great ideas. He was willing to do it. We have to talk with the bosses about the numbers because I’m assuming he’s not cheap.”
McIntyre and Crowe crossed paths earlier this year as they filmed not one, but two films together: The Last Druid and Highlander. The latter also stars WWE wrestler-turned-actor Dave “The Animal” Bautista.
Crowe, 62, does not have formal pro wrestling experience. He has, however, worked on combat sports films, including the 2026 MMA flick Beast. He famously appeared in Gladiator, where his character frequently fought in tournaments set during the Roman Empire era, too.
McIntyre is a four-time world champion in WWE, with his latest reign coming to an end in March 2026. After dropping the title, he transitioned to a singles feud with Jacob Fatu, whom he went on to battle in an Unsanctioned Match at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
“The Scottish Warrior” has been off of WWE programming since then, primarily due to his multiple acting commitments. He’s expected to be back in the WWE fold soon. Whether Crowe will appear alongside him, though, has yet to be seen.
