Former Leeds Rhinos and Warrington half-back Blake Austin lands new club down under

Former Super League Dream Team half-back and ex-Warrington and Leeds Rhinos man, Blake Austin, has agreed a deal to continue his playing career down under.

Austin enjoyed a five-season stay on UK shores, playing for Warrington Wolves in 2019, 2020 and 2021 before moving to Leeds Rhinos in 2022 and 2023.

His time at Headingley ended with a loan move to Castleford Tigers, and it was there he played his final game of first-grade rugby league.

An ex-Canberra, Wests Tigers and Penrith half-back, the 35-year-old has more recently taken part in rugby league nines festivals in Australia, playing alongside and against some former NRL and Super League greats.

He will now return to the 13-man game, as he returns to his local club, Doonside Roos – the side where it all began.

The Roos play in the Penrith District and last year made their Grand Final before losing 34-24 to the Windsor Wolves. Austin is a significant coup for the club, which is celebrating their 60th anniversary.
